First time trying English Tea Store's Golden Pu-erh Loose Leaf Tea? Try our Sample Size of 1 ounce.

The Golden Pu-erh Tea blend from English Tea Store is aged for 5 years deep in the mountain caves of Yunnan, China. As with wine, Pu erh tends to get more valuable as it ages, and Pu erh that is 5 years or older is more rare and therefore, more highly prized. This blend has a hint of mustiness with a bit of earthy character sometimes described as old or elemental. Compared to young pu-erh, this tea is quite mild.

A study in Japan indicated that all teas lower cholesterol, but that Pu erh is more effective than green tea. Some followers of "Chinese tea for health" believe that Pu erh can "cut the grease, help digestion, promote body fluid secretion, quench the thirst, invigorate the spleen, and dispel alcoholic toxins."

Smells fishy

"When I opened the package, I immediately smelled an unpleasant fishy odor. I did some research, and found that if the pu’erh is rushed through processing or not stored or handled properly, this can result in a fishy smell. In other words the tea is of poor quality. I brewed the tea without rinsing the leaves first and then with rinsing the leaves. Both times the tea had a very mild taste, almost tasteless, but still had the fishy smell. I’m glad I only purchased the sample size. Very disappointing."

Great tasting, a good breakfast tea.

"This is my first tasting of pu'er and it's definitely a new favorite, I have a lot to learn about it but the health benefits I have read about made it a must to try."
