How to Make Iced Tea Using Loose Leaf Teas and Tea Bags

Making iced tea at home is easy and delicious with our premium loose leaf teas and pyramid tea bags. Follow these simple steps to brew the perfect iced tea, whether you want to make 1 liter or 1 gallon. For a smoother, less bitter tea, try the cold brewing method. You can also make sweet tea by adding sugar during the brewing process.

For Loose Leaf Tea

1 Liter of Iced Tea:

  1. Measure the Tea: Use 0.5 ounces (about 3 tablespoons) of loose leaf tea.
  2. Boil Water: Bring 1 liter (about 4 cups) of water to a boil.
  3. Steep the Tea: Place the loose leaf tea in a tea infuser or tea filter bag. Pour the boiling water over the tea and let it steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on the desired strength.
  4. Add Sweetener: If making sweet tea, add 1/4 to 1/2 cup of sugar to the hot tea and stir until dissolved.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the tea leaves and let the tea cool. Pour over ice and enjoy. You can add fruit slices if desired.

1 Gallon of Iced Tea:

  1. Measure the Tea: Use 2 ounces (about 12 tablespoons) of loose leaf tea.
  2. Boil Water: Bring 1 gallon (about 16 cups) of water to a boil.
  3. Steep the Tea: Place the loose leaf tea in a large tea infuser or multiple tea filter bags. Pour the boiling water over the tea and let it steep for 5-7 minutes, depending on the desired strength.
  4. Add Sweetener: If making sweet tea, add 1 to 1.5 cups of sugar to the hot tea and stir until dissolved.
  5. Cool and Serve: Remove the tea leaves and let the tea cool. Pour over ice and enjoy. You can add fruit slices if desired.

  2. Combine with Water: Place the loose leaf tea in a tea infuser, tea filter bag or add tea bags and add it to 1 liter (about 4 cups) of cold water. For 1 gallon add 16 cups of cold water.
  3. Steep in Refrigerator: Let it steep in the refrigerator for 8-12 hours.
  4. Add Sweetener: Remove the tea leaves or bags and add simple syrup to taste for sweet tea. Stir until mixed. (Simple Syrup is made by dissolving equal parts water and sugar over heat.)
