The famous Brown Betty Teapot is also available as the Cobalt Betty.

This little teapot has quite a history. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th Century and the birth of the British Ceramic Teapot. The original unglazed teapot was made out of red clay from the Bradell Woods area in Stoke-on-Trent. Today the Cobalt Betty teapot is still made in Stoke-on-Trent with the same clay from the original area (exactly like our genuine Brown Betty). British people believe the Betty makes the best pot of tea because of the type of clay that is used and the shape of the pot.

The 8 cup Cobalt Betty holds approximately 48 fluid ounces.

    Dimensions: 10.25 inches L x 7.5 inches H (with lid) x 6.5 inches W (mouth of teapot is approximately 3 inches)

This teapot is lovingly hand-made in Staffordshire England. Because these teapots are hand made, there may be some slight imperfections. These teapots are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stovetop. We recommend an electric tea kettle to boil the water for brewing your tea. Cobalt Bettys are dishwasher safe, however the best care is to rinse in hot water and allow to air dry.

Please Note: The Cobalt Betty teapots come with a back stamp that states "Adderley Ceramics Original Betty Made in England" .

    Available in 2cup, 4cup, 6 cup & 8 cup.

      Good teapot

Posted by ES on Aug 12th 2020

This teapot is very large (8 cup model), and as far as I can see it is well made. We've used it every day for a couple of weeks since we got it. I like the spout, the lid which has a thingy to keep it from falling out when tilted, and the pretty blue color.

      Simply the best

There's no other teapot that brews tea like the Betty. The design lets the leaves infuse perfectly and you get a great cup of tea every time. The cobalt glaze is beautiful and adds a modern touch to an old favorite. Very happy with the 8 cup because if there is any left in the pot it makes a great iced drink later on in the day. Great packaging and prompt delivery.

      Highly recommend

I had admired this teapot for quite a while on the website before actually purchasing it. I love its history and the fact it comes from the UK, where everyone knows and loves their tea! :) This is a beautiful teapot and I’m so glad I finally took the plunge. :) It’s well-made; the large size is just right for me; and I love the cobalt blue color. I have a large tea cosy, and it fits nicely over this teapot. I’m very happy with my purchase!

My English auntie had a Brown Betty that she handed down to me saying it made the very best tea. I have tried others but find that she was right. Purchased the Cobalt Betty for a friend who has always admired mine. She absolutely loves hers just as I knew she would. For any serious tea enthusiast the English Betty teapot is a must have. Well worth the price for what is destined to be an heirloom.

Loved it ... but not so much now

Posted by SewMamaSew on Feb 19th 2018

I loved this tea pot initially - the color, the size, the non-drip spout. I was thrilled! A few months later though, and I am having issues with the glaze on the pot crazing. It started with the lid, but now the whole pot has fine crazing lines. I'm disappointed. I will still use it of course, but I'm not happy with the crazing. I have ceramic top stove and I am wondering if that is the issue. I keep the burner on the very lowest setting when brewing but it might still be too hot.

      Finally a Teapot Big Enough

Posted by Tea B on Aug 17th 2017

It does not drip! Rather sad when you have to lead with that, but when you drink as much tea as I do, it is a big deal. Beautiful blue colour; brews a very good cup of tea, actually 8 cups worth! Highly recommended product. Been searching a long time for a teapot that is NOT made in China. Purchased a box of English Breakfast Tea to take advantage of free shipping. Very nice tea. So what are you waiting for?
