The Organic Assam Loose Leaf TGFOP (Tippy Golden Flowery Orange Pekoe) blend from English Tea Store is flavorful with superb astringency and full on 2nd flush jammy profile.

As one of the finest black teas on the market, here are some terms to become familiar with when enjoying this delicious blend:

Croppy: a tasting term that describes much sought after bright creamy liquor. Most high quality second flush Assams usually display this characteristic.

Brisk: A tea with a lively vivacious flavor.

Biscuity: A term professional tasters use to describe a well-fired Assam - perfect temperature + perfect timing = Biscuity (just a side note...all good Assam teas pair well with almost any variety of biscuits)

    How to Make Tea

Available in 3 sizes (Please select from the options above):

Try our Sample Size of 1 ounce.
    • Contents loose leaf tea net weight 4 ounces
    • Contents loose leaf tea net weight 16 ounces (1 pound)

Caffeine content: Medium - This tea contains natural caffeine found in the L. Camellia Sinensis family. A cup of black tea steeped in boiled water for 5 minutes will contain between 27 to 35 milligrams of caffeine. An equal sized cup of coffee will contain between 80 - 100 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine quickly becomes soluble in very hot water. If you wish to reduce the caffeine level in this tea, briefly rinsing the tea leaves in extremely hot water will reduce the caffeine content between 25-50% with only a minor effect on taste.

Antioxidant Content: Very High - The longer you steep your tea the more polyphenols will be extracted. (Test results based on 5 minutes steeping time. Polyphenol percentages may fluctuate with lot, grade of tea, testing method, temperature of water and freshness of tea). More antioxidants are extracted from tea (L. Camellia Sinesis) the longer it is brewed. And the more tea is used, the greater the antioxidant benefit.

      Nothing like the description

This isn't a bad tea but it's nothing like the description. There are no tips at all, and no astringency or jamminess. It looks and tastes for all the world like a standard flat-black Ceylon -- so much so that I wonder if a batch of Ceylon got mis-bagged as an Assam.

      A very good tea.

A very good tea for the price. There are others I prefer, but this is more affordable and a quite decent quality. I like a strong, full-bodied tea that stands up well to milk and this one does so.

The flavor has many notes. Perfect for my pots of iced tea and kombucha batches.

Assam is a lovely tea and this one did not disappoint. It made a strong brew that stood up well to food accompaniments. It was delicious with a touch of sucanat and cream.

Makes a good, strong brew that stands up well to the addition of goat's milk (and probably cow's milk, too!).

      Perfect Morning Tea

With its coppery color, malty aroma, and smooth, full-bodied taste--with just the right amount of astringency--this tea is a treat for all the senses. It's the perfect morning tea. Though I love it plain, it takes milk and/or sugar well.

      Faded and stale...

Posted by Anonymous on Aug 24th 2018

I bought 2lb in July 2017 and really enjoyed it, so I decided to buy another 2lb this summer, 2018. It took about a week after ordering for them to be shipped (can't find them in the warehouse or can't decide on what to substitute?) and another 5days or so of shipping to arrive. This batch doesn't taste like Assam at all. The tea is definitely lighter in color and dusty (like plant materials disintegrating in sunlight), and the fragrance is very faint. When brewed, the cup is dark and lifeless instead of the robust reddish brown that I am so accustomed to, and it's also slightly murky. The taste is bland at most, and it feels like I'm drinking a cup of colored water. Very disappointed in you, English Tea Store.

This tea is bright and flavorful. I mix it with the organic Ceylon tea for a bit of mellowness. Perfect cuppa in the morning!
