The Ti Kuan Yin Iron Goddess Oolong Tea blend from English Tea Store is a distinctive light cup that has hints of orchid-like flavor. Oolong tea is semi fermented which is one of the reasons it has such a unique character. The semi fermentation gives the tea a little bit more body than a green tea but less body than a black tea ...and interestingly it gives the flavor a very unique twist. This premium grade of Ti Kuan Yin is at first bitter, then sweet and finishes with a fragrance which lingers on your palate.
The name Iron Goddess of Mercy came from a farmer named Mr. Wei. At the temple dedicated to Kuan Yin he was asked what is the name of his special tea. It must be called Ti Kuan Yin in honor of the iron statue to Kuan Yin he replied. As the name was a good one, it has never been changed.

This will knock your socks off! Strong, vibrant, earthy tea. I feel like a rock star afterwards! (okay, hyperbole but you get the point; it is GREAT TEA!)

Good everyday oolong
Brewed in quantity, this is a dependable tea with no lurking surprises to mislead and distract the nascent writer. And since it is an oolong it will stand up to multiple infusions, with each having a character that neither the preceding nor the subsequent infusions do. The Nascent Writer has a 14-ounce teapot too, and in that one the ever-evolving oolong character is much more readily coaxed forth. This tea is a good choice for that.

MILD & AGREEABLE
A polite, unostentatious brew that is the perfect evening tea with just a pleasing hint of rounded fragrance and with a pale pastel coloration. Brewed 4 minutes or less, it is very enjoyable with no abrasiveness. Not a unique favorite, but satisfying nonetheless.
