The English Breakfast Blend No. 1 Tea blend from English Tea Store is a blend of the finest Assam, Kenyan and other choice teas. This is our strongest tea, and makes a great start to the day.

It has a full malty flavor with a rich dark color. We recommend this tea be served hot with milk and a little sugar, but it is also delicious served with lemon or it can be used to make iced tea. This tea has a finer leaf size for a faster brew time and better infusion. We also offer a similar tea with a larger leaf.

The English Breakfast Blend No. 1 pairs perfectly with a traditional English style breakfast: poached eggs on toast with baked beans, cheddar and cream cheeses, and cured meats.

Caffeine content: Medium - This tea contains natural caffeine found in the L. Camellia Sinensis family. A cup of black tea steeped in boiled water for 5 minutes will contain between 27 to 35 milligrams of caffeine. An equal sized cup of coffee will contain between 80 - 100 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine quickly becomes soluble in very hot water. If you wish to reduce the caffeine level in this tea, briefly rinsing the tea leaves in extremely hot water will reduce the caffeine content between 25-50% with only a minor effect on taste.

Antioxidant Content: High - 7.50 - 9.99% polyphenols by dry weight. The longer you steep your tea the more polyphenols will be extracted. (Test results based on 5 minutes steeping time. Polyphenol percentages may fluctuate with lot, grade of tea, testing method, temperature of water and freshness of tea). More antioxidants are extracted from tea (L. Camellia Sinesis) the longer it is brewed. And the more tea is used, the greater the antioxidant benefit.

Customer Reviews

Great tea, great price Review by Todd
I love the English, Irish, and Scottish breakfast teas from ETS. I buy them alternately. The English is robust, dark colored tea that takes milk and various methods of sweetening very well. Malty flavor, maybe a bit like porter. Great with honey and a little lemon, especially for a sore throat or bad voice day. I have never really taken to milk in my tea, though I try it periodically. I really prefer the flavor of the tea black, maybe with just a touch of sugar, just enough to take off any bitter edge. If I'm stressed or sick, I make it strong and sweet. That seems to be the recommendation in many English mysteries, which also go well with the tea, by the way. Also, If you don't want to use a real tea strainer with a fine mesh, get the English breakfast tea II. If you want to make real tea, you need a real tea strainer, not a coarse mesh ball style or hole-pricked screw together affair. Unless you want to read the leaves instead of Agatha Christie. Loves it Review by 1932Bear
My husband drinks 2-3 cups a day and loves it! (Posted on 11/3/2018)
Best breakfast tea. Convenient package sizes. Great start to the day. Review by Anonymous
This is the best English Breakfast Tea out there. It comes in various package sizes. Our favorite is 8 ounces, because we have an English Tea Store caddy that we got some years ago. A great way to start the day. (Posted on 5/18/2018)
Not worth the hassle Review by Mzdelo
This loose tea is too small even for my very small holes in two of my tea brewers. Drinking chewy tea isn't my idea of a nice cup of tea. I tried to use a coffee filter to contain the tea leaves and the tea is just too small for the flavor to come through. (Posted on 4/9/2018)
