Details

The famous Brown Betty Teapot is also available as the Cobalt Betty.

This little teapot has quite a history. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th Century and the birth of the British Ceramic Teapot. The original unglazed teapot was made out of red clay from the Bradell Woods area in Stoke-on-Trent. Today the Cobalt Betty teapot is still made in Stoke-on-Trent with the same clay from the original area (exactly like our genuine Brown Betty). British people believe the Betty makes the best pot of tea because of the type of clay that is used and the shape of the pot.

The 6 cup Cobalt Betty holds approximately 36 fluid ounces.

Dimensions: 8.5 inches L x 6.5 inches H (with lid) x 3.75 inches W (mouth of teapot is 2.5 inches)

This teapot is lovingly hand-made in Staffordshire England. Because these teapots are hand made, there may be some slight imperfections. These teapots are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stovetop. We recommend an electric tea kettle to boil the water for brewing your tea. Cobalt Bettys are dishwasher safe, however the best care is to rinse in hot water and allow to air dry.

Please Note: The Cobalt Betty teapots come with a back stamp that states "Adderley Ceramics Original Betty Made in England" .

Available in 2cup, 4cup, 6 cup & 8 cup.

Love this teapot Review by Ann

This was a replacement for a brown betty wannabe that I’d had for over 20 years. I love the real thing and find that it really does help keep my tea at a hotter temp (using a cozy of course) and that’s really important to me. I’d recommend this teapot to anyone and everyone looking for a good worker bee pot to in which brew your favorite tea. (Posted on 3/27/2018)

I use this teapot daily. Beautifully made, love seeing the rings of raw red clay on the bottom of the teapot and the lid. The glaze is a beautiful deep blue, very even finish. Definitely made well.
Pot certainly has some weight to it once tea is actually brewed, but that's to be expected. I'm experimenting with brewing - new to tea - but I am very happy with this pot. Easy to clean, the handle is good (not too small, not too large), it pours very nicely and hardly spills a drop.
I did buy it partially because it was made in England and not anywhere else. I'm not disappointed. Would recommend. (Posted on 6/28/2017)

GOOD Working Person's Tea Pot!!! Review by Marcopolo
This is my first attempt at steeping tea like the English, Irish, Scots, etc. have for centuries. (I have been using this pot now for the better part of 4 weeks!) I usually "brew" mine in a "Tea Drop" brewing machine. It takes about 10 minutes for 28 oz. of tea. (With this pot, I can get 48 oz in the about same time!) The tea is a dark brew which I like considering I drink PG Tips and Typhoo as my regular cups. I also like the Yorkshire Gold Loose Leaf. With the "Tea Drop" machine, they all come out nice and dark with a rich flavour.

This tea pot, however, has changed me from a brewer to a steeper! I was surprised at how dark the tea comes out of the pot after 4-5 minutes of steeping. I am amazed at how the steeping method in a pot gives a different flavour. And better than brewing at that!

The pot itself is a nice Cobalt Blue. Mine is a bit darker tone than the picture here. It must be the red clay they use to make the pot. For some reason, I was surprised that the inside of the pot itself is glazed, but then again, I never owned a tea pot before now. It is a welcome feature as cleanup is a breeze. Just rinse and wipe with a dry cloth or paper towel.

The pot has a bit of heft to it and a good hefty handle to deal with the heft. There is a bit of a dribble to the pour spout (it drips a bit under the pour), but if you pour a bit slower than "racing to fill the cup" it goes away. Whatever tea that has missed the cup is really a small amount and will wipe away easily with a paper towel.

I warm the pot by filling it with the hottest water from the tap that I have while the water is coming to a boiling on the stove. I DO put the lid on it as well. When the water is about to boil, then I empty the pot and put the tea in. Obviously when the water is boiling, I then pour it into the pot and let it steep for about 5 minutes.

Great tea...every time! Clean up is easy! This pot is definitely worth the small investment! I highly recommend it! (Posted on 7/3/2016)
