  • Details

The Formosa Oolong Estate Tea blend from English Tea Store is smooth and slightly sweet with a touch of dryness. Oolong teas are semi fermented compared to Green Tea (unfermented) and Black Tea ( fully fermented).

After rolling, the tea is allowed to ferment only until the edges of the leaves start to turn brown. The tea is then fired which arrests the fermenting process and captures the interesting character associated with Oolong tea. In Taiwan, producing oolong tea involves highly specialized skills in the control of the withering, oxidation and firing. A slight variance in any of these gives each variety a distinctive aroma, flavor, color and finish.

      This is my favorite tea

Posted by Alethea M. on Apr 1st 2022

This is my favorite tea. I have always loved Chinese food and most of the time they have a particular tea they will serve in their restaurants. Finding this was a blessing.

So extremely mild, it hardly has any flavor.

      True flavor

This is what I consider a true oolong, fruity and nutty without being sweet and slightly smoky without being bitter. Great plain or with cream and sugar. Plain and strong is my favorite style for a morning tea .

      Disappointing

Posted by LeAndrea on May 18th 2018

I have been drinking good tea for over thirty years. This Oolong was disappointing. Not very flavorful and caffeine is too much for me. Oolongs are supposed to be in that nice zone between green and black. This is not like other Oolongs I have had before.
