  • Details

The Formosa Oolong Estate Tea blend from English Tea Store is smooth and slightly sweet with a touch of dryness. Oolong teas are semi fermented compared to Green Tea (unfermented) and Black Tea ( fully fermented).

After rolling, the tea is allowed to ferment only until the edges of the leaves start to turn brown. The tea is then fired which arrests the fermenting process and captures the interesting character associated with Oolong tea. In Taiwan, producing oolong tea involves highly specialized skills in the control of the withering, oxidation and firing. A slight variance in any of these gives each variety a distinctive aroma, flavor, color and finish.

      True flavor

This is what I consider a true oolong, fruity and nutty without being sweet and slightly smoky without being bitter. Great plain or with cream and sugar. Plain and strong is my favorite style for a morning tea .

      Disappointing

Posted by LeAndrea on May 18th 2018

I have been drinking good tea for over thirty years. This Oolong was disappointing. Not very flavorful and caffeine is too much for me. Oolongs are supposed to be in that nice zone between green and black. This is not like other Oolongs I have had before.

Not a good representation of Oolong

I did a review in the sample size ( which I was fortunate enough to purchase first, as opposed to the folks who didn't) but after trying this several times, I decided to post a review in the regular product, as I completely agree with the other one star reviews. There was no whole or even partially whole leaves in my sample size, it appeared mostly broken with a fair amount of powder. and no matter how I tried to brew this, temperature, concentration, time, it always ended up bitter. Wish I could give it a good review.

      Huge disappointment

I was excited to find Formosa Oolong online at a reasonable price. I know quality Oolong and the tea I got isn't. I've wasted 17.00 on a common black tea; wish I'd known about the sample size. Ida Louise

      huge disappointment

When I found out that you offered Formosa Oolong, I was so glad. I rarely treat myself to the unnecessary so with great anticipation I ordered The Formosa Oolong. When it arrived, I opened it and immediately brewed the long anticipated tea. What a huge disappointment! If I'd brewed a pot of supermarket black tea I would have enjoyed it as much. The tea is nothing like Oolong and I've wasted 17.00. I L Austin
