The Long Island Strawberry Green Tea blend from English Tea Store combines a Sencha style green from Hunan, China with the sweet flavor of strawberries. Green tea forgoes the fermentation process required to produce black tea. The leaf is steamed after plucking, then bruised either by machine or by hand. After that it's pan or basket fired, leaving it with a distinctive glossy look and light sweetish flavor - an almost perfect match for the strawberry in terms of character profile. The juiciness has been further enhanced by the addition of dried papaya pieces.

Long Island has been famous for its strawberries for as long as people have lived there. Local history books describe people going on picnics and nature hikes to pick the wild berries as far back as the 1850's - and that's only recorded history. Archaeological records show that the Native Americans who inhabited Long Island centuries ago were also fond of the sweet summertime fruit. As time wore on, and car culture began to develop, roadside fruit stands popped up to cater to city folk partaking in the new found pleasure of the country drive. To this day a journey out to Long Island will take you past many such stands and pick-your-own berry patches.

    Tea is made in China

Caffeine content: Low - This tea contains natural caffeine found in the L. Camellia Sinensis family. A cup of green tea steeped in boiled water for 5 minutes will contain between 22 to 29 milligrams of caffeine. An equal sized cup of coffee will contain between 80 - 100 milligrams of caffeine. Caffeine quickly becomes soluble in very hot water. If you wish to reduce the caffeine level in this tea, briefly rinsing the tea leaves in extremely hot water will reduce the caffeine content between 25-50% with only a minor effect on taste.

Antioxidant Content: High -The longer you steep your tea the more polyphenols will be extracted. (Test results based on 5 minutes steeping time. Polyphenol percentages may fluctuate with lot, grade of tea, testing method, temperature of water and freshness of tea). More antioxidants are extracted from tea (L. Camellia Sinesis) the longer it is brewed. And the more tea is used, the greater the antioxidant benefit.

      Love it...

Was looking for a green tea to substitute the french black tea called Jardin Bleu. I have issues with kidney stones and was told to avoid black tea, but if I insisted on drinking tea, to stick to green tea. This has the delightful strawberry fragrance that I love so much in Jardin Bleu. I'm going to order more since I'm almost out of the sample.

      Great loose green tea

We have been drinking this tea daily for about 5 years or more. We make a pot in the morning and it is gone by early afternoon. For the price, it is one of the best loose teas we have found. Sencha tends to be strong for us, and this tea is very light and refreshing. Not too sweet and it makes great sun tea, which we ice down. It does have caffeine and so we are careful to drink it early as it does act like a pick-up. We have tried lots of other green teas, but we have each time gone back to this one which brews beautifully in our pot.

I order this tea for my wife who, once she tried it, does not want to drink any other tea anymore. I am not much into green tea myself, but I must admit that I once I tried it, every now and then and drink a cap too. It's great.

This tea is fruity and full of strawberry flavor. Not artificial tasting or over powering. It makes the perfect iced tea.
