Details
This little teapot has quite a history. Its origins date back to the end of the 17th Century and the birth of the British Ceramic Teapot. The original unglazed teapot was made out of red clay from the Bradell Woods area in Stoke-on-Trent. Today the Brown Betty teapot is still made in Stoke-on-Trent with the same clay from the original area. British people believe the Brown Betty makes the best pot of tea because of the type of clay that is used and the shape of the pot.
The 4 cup Brown Betty holds approximately 24 fluid ounces.
Dimensions: 8.5 inches L x 6 inches H (with lid) x 3.5 inches W (mouth of teapot is 2.5 inches)
This teapot is lovingly hand-made in Staffordshire England. Because these teapots are hand made, there may be some slight imperfections. These teapots are not intended for use in a microwave or on a stovetop. We recommend an electric tea kettle to boil the water for brewing your tea. Brown Bettys are dishwasher safe, however the best care is to rinse in hot water and allow to air dry.
Please Note: We cannot guarantee whether your teapot will come embossed with "Original Staffordshire Brown Betty" on the side as the above pictures show. However, we can assure you that whether or not your teapot is embossed, you will be receiving an authentic Brown Betty teapot.

Great purchase!
Was in the market for a new tea pot since I broke my old one. Glad I did! Great product, perfect size for an individual sitting. Keeps yes at proper temp. Strong design. 5 stars!

Wish it lasted longer.....
My wife and I have had 3 of these now and each one has had issues with the glaze cracking. First one cracked on the lid and eventually it cracked in half. 2nd one cracked along handle and eventually the handle fell off. This last one, and it will be the last one, now has shown glaze cracks all over the pot. I'm just waiting for it to completely shatter. I'm not sure why the glaze is cracking as we always bring the pot to temp with warm water prior to actually steeping our tea in order to not shock the betty. It's truly a shame as these do steep the best cup of tea.

Great pot, perfect size for trying new teas.
I’ve been pleased with my multiple Brown Betty teapots - 6 cup, even 8 cup - for years. They have stood up to reasonable abuse, make fine tea and, luckily, have broken only when dropped. The four cup is a delight as we (well, me actually...hubby sticks with Assad’s and basic english breakfast teas. I’ve more “experimental” with teas and the 4 cup is perfect for “just me” or if I badger someone into trying a new blend. The two-cup pots are too small and loose heat too quickly to enjoy or share a “pnewfound “winner”

I purchased this pot to take to work and make tea. It's perfect. I enjoy the tea Brown Betty pots make and the size is just right.

Diapointed
Bought this tea pot, a real Brown Betty. Had it for about 2 years and fine cracks and lines started to form. Then last week the handle broke off. Very sad this happened! Now looking for a replacement. Won't buy another.

Good teapot
My problem is, when I got it I realized I should have ordered a 2 cup pot. I'll have to reorder. I wish you'd show fluid ounces instead of "cups," a very inaccurate measure. Comment from English Tea Store: It states in the body of the description that the 4 cup holds approximately 24 fluid ounces.

Best Teapot Ever
I had a Brown Betty for many, many years. I was so upset when I broke it. I found this site and ordered a new one. It came safely packaged and I was thrilled to see it was the same teapot that I broke. I love it because it's sturdy and keeps the tea nice and hot. Highly recommend this teapot.
