Crawfords Garibaldi Biscuits,. The Garibaldi biscuit consists of currants in a plain biscuit, best enjoyed with tea or coffee. They are also called dead fly biscuits, because the currants resemble dead flies.

This biscuit is named after Giuseppe Garibaldi, an Italian general and leader in the fight to unify Italy. It was first manufactured by Peak Freans in 1861 after Garibaldi visited England.

The perfect (and apparently the only) replacement for he old Sunshine raisin biscuits. They are simple, they taste right, and they store well. A lightweight, non-sticky snack substitute for a granola bar.

I grew up on Sunshine Raisins Bars and loved them. Tried to find in the stores un US, but can’t find them. Found these on line at Vermont Country Store and ordered 3 sets of the packs for me and my daughter. Great with tea, but also with milk. Thanks Vermont for having them. Will ordr more when these run out.
