Matthew Walker is the oldest and largest producer of Christmas Puddings, also know as Plum Pudding. The company started in 1899 when Matthew Walker, a Derbyshire farmer's son, made puddings from his mother's recipes and started to sell them at the local store. The sales of the Plum Puddings were so successful that Matthew Walker set up a small factory Derby. The factory moved to a purpose built factory in Heanor, Derbyshire 1967 where it remains to this day.
Matthew Walker Christmas Pudding are made to a traditional recipe in both ingredients and cooking methods. The ingredients include Sultanas, Raisins, Demerara Sugar, Currants, Glace Cherries, Stout, Breadcrumbs, Sherry, Vegetarian Suet, Almonds, Orange and Lemon Peel, Cognac, Mixed Spices. Sultanas come from seedless grapes that are grown in the Izmir area of Turkey. They are laid out in the Sun to dry naturally to preserve their natural sweetness & great sun washed colour.
