Sowmee white tea loose leaf
Sowmee is one of the lower grades of white tea, but despite this it has the properties attributed to white teas. The leaves for Sowmee are plucked during late April, May and June. The lack of processing and hand selection is evident in the leaf appearance of Sowmee as it is somewhat mixed and tending flaky and flat. This Sowmee has a more pronounced taste profile - almost oolong tea-like. Many white tea drinkers prefer this cup in that there is a ?substance? to the taste compared to the delicate nuances of other white teas.

A bargan for White Tea

This is a reasonable price for White Tea, but you do have to use a bit more since it has some sticks and stems in it. The flavor is just fine, though not as rich as the higher priced product. It does have the added advantage of the larger leaves not migrating through the strainer. T

A bargain, with satisfying flavor

This Shou Mei had a very satisfying, full, toasty flavor. It’s a great bargain. I think I recall seeing elsewhere that Shou Mei is partially oxidized. That seems consistent with other broken-leaf white teas I’ve tasted, but this is smoother and lighter.

Although this tea is rich and full-bodied, it doesn’t possess the same natural sweetness that I’m accustomed to with other white tea blends. Good value, certainly!
