Details

Immerse yourself in the pure, unmanipulated brilliance of classical Chinese tea cultivation: our premium Pai Mu Tan White Tea offers an extraordinarily elegant, single-ingredient loose-leaf experience. Drawing a beautifully clear, slightly pale liquor in the vessel, this elite selection releases a wonderfully fresh, sophisticated botanical aroma. The palate is treated to an incredibly smooth, velvety mouthfeel defined by subtle, delicate jammy undertones that echo the structural complexity of a fine Keemun or a mild Bordeaux. A highly refined, self-drinking reserve that is best appreciated entirely neat to honor its fragile, layered flavor esters.

The Narcissus Varietal: Sun-Withered Minimalist Orthodoxy

The exceptional grade and sensory longevity of our Pai Mu Tan (White Peony) are rooted in a strict botanical heritage. Harvested exclusively from specialized, heirloom varietal bushes known alternately as Narcissus or local chaicha cultivars, the leaves undergo a rigid "two leaves and a bud" plucking protocol. These choice hand-selected specimens are visually distinguished by their pale, silvery-gray green hue and a dense coating of downy, protective trichomes.

In stark contrast to traditional green teas, which undergo aggressive enzymatic deactivation via thermal pan-firing or steaming, this authentic white tea relies on absolute minimalist processing. The leaves are simply naturally withered and dried under monitored solar conditions. This zero-thermal-stress methodology preserves the pristine cellular integrity of the plant tissue, leaving the natural structures intact and unmarred by high-heat oxidation.

The Antioxidant Matrix: Molecular Integrity & Rarity

Because the delicate spring buds escape heavy processing, they retain a staggering biochemical concentration. Analytical data demonstrates that premium sun-cured white tea naturally possesses up to three times the active antioxidant polyphenols of standard green or black teas. These compounds provide a profound cellular defense system, offering highly potent properties that efficiently neutralize unstable, oxidative molecules before they can degrade healthy tissues.

This remarkable chemical potency has garnered immense interest across the global dermatological and luxury cosmetic industries, where white tea extracts are highly sought after for premium, age-defying topical emulsions. This multi-industry demand, combined with an incredibly narrow annual harvest window, makes unblended, high-grade orthodox Pai Mu Tan an increasingly rare and highly prized acquisition for discerning epicureans worldwide.

A mild taste, so I

"A mild taste, so I brew it strong. I save it for the afternoon or evening because of the low caffeine."

Pai Mu Tan White Tea - Loose Leaf

"This is a light and wonderful tea we have every morning, and it is at a really great price relative to other versions of this tea sold elsewhere."

Naomi W. (5/5)

Mild and pleasant

"I usually don't like white tea - most of the ones I tried had barely any taste. I decided to give this one a try based on reviews, and I'm glad I did. It is mild - after all, it's a white tea; that said, it has a very nice flavor."

The only green tea my husband will drink!

So good!

"This bag of tea was so much bigger than I expected (the 2 oz) and tastes amazing. Perfect for afternoon tea on spring and summer days, it has a delicate flavor but not too light as with some white teas, a new favorite for sure"

Elizabeth P. (5/5)

Lovely White Tea

"We enjoy this tea so much we often send it as gifts."

Pai Mu Tan is My Favorite

"This white tea has become a staple for me over the last several years. I've tried many of them. I've stuck with this one, since I consider it to be the best one available considering quality for price. I tried some of the significantly more expensive white teas that are available. I must admit they all were very good. But, as far as I can tell for my tastes, the more expensive ones weren't that much better for taste or general feeling of well being and relaxation."

Fragrant and light, but pricey like all white teas are

"I purchased this tea since it is closest in scent and flavor to my regular white tea, but it is much pricier. My regular supplier is out until the next harvest is ready (I assume), so happy to have a substitute. Lesson learned, stock up when it's available because the season is limited for this delicious tea."
